2011 Music City Hits Official Rules 

 

ASA Rules of Championship will apply unless modified as described below:

 

No infield practice.

 

Mercy Rule- 15 runs after 3 innings, 10 runs after 4 innings, 8 runs after 5 innings

 

No new inning will start after one hour and thirty minutes (pool and bracket except for semi-finals and championship games).  International tiebreaker at time limit or at the beginning of the 8th inning, whichever is first. During semi-finals game time limits will be an hour and forty minutes and championship games will be 7 innings with no time limit.

 

Tiebreaker for pool play games:  International tiebreaker- 2 innings and then call it a tie.

 

Home team will be decided by coin flip before the beginning of the game, pool play only. 

 

The higher seed will be the home team during hte tournament.  If both teams are the same seed, then there will be a coin flip.

 

The team listed first in pool play and on the top in bracket play will occupy the first base dugout.  The team listed second in pool play and on the bottom in bracket play will occupy the third base dugout.

 

Protests- all protests will be decided before the next pitch.  The UIC present at the site where the protest has been lodged will decide all protests.  The UIC may consult any individual or other source of information, at the UIC's sole discretion.  All decisions made by the UIC are final.  No protests in pool play.

 

Equipment (bats, helmets, faceguards)- All equipment must comply with current ASA certification standards.  Equipment that is judged to not be in compliance shall be removed from compeition for the remainder of the tournament.

 

Facemasks and chinstraps are required.

 

Double first bases will be used.

 

A forfeit in pool play will result in a score of 2-0.

 

Rain Out Policy: In the event of inclement weather, the tournament director has the right to alter the tournament in whatever ways necessary to reach conclusion (options include shortened games or rule changed to get in the proper number of games.) The head coach is responsible for finding out schedulig changes via website or bracket boards.

 

Tiebreaker Rules for Pool Standings

The officiall order of finish in qualifying pool play shall be determined by the tournament director based o the following:

 

Win-loss record

 

If a tie exists, team shall be ranked according to which team won in head to head competition

 

If a tie still exists, teams shall be ranked according to the fewest runs allowed (for teams involved in the tie)

 

If a tie still exists, teams shall be ranked according to the most runs scored (for teams involved in tie)

 

If a tie still exists, there shall be a coin flip.

 

If a tie exists between more than two teams, then the moment one team is eliminated, the tie breaking system reverts back to the start of the tie breaking system.

 

Teams may use unlimited defensive substitution and bat unlimited players during pool play. 

 

Teams can utlitize the courtesy runner rule for any player on the roster as long as you do not delay play. If the courtesy runner is on base when her time is to bat- there will be an out recorded for her time at bat.

 

Defense players may be changed at anytime.  Any changes made in the batting order must be relayed to the umpire.  Umpires do not need to know the defensive changes nor the reentries, unless they are going back into the batting order. 

 

If a player is injured and can't continue in the batting order, the spot will be skipped without an out.  If a player is ejected and doesn't have a sub in the batting order then an out will be recorded. 

 

During bracket play ASA defensive substitution and batter rules will be used.

 

There will be a Coaches Meeting prior to the first game on Wednesday, June 9th at 8:00am.  Coaches will be provided with ASA's most up-to-date illegal bat list at this meeting.  The meeting will take place at the steps of the concession stand near Field 3. 

 

Team registration will begin on Wednesday, June 15th at 8:00am at the covered pavillion between fields 4 & 5.  Teams must register prior to their first game.
